Top Southern California Farmer's Markets

Maybe you’ve taken a look at our Southern California shopping guide, or our blog post of essential Southern California shopping experiences, but you’re looking for something with even more local flavor?

Well, there’s no better way to experience the sights, smells, tastes and talent of our local beach towns than by visiting our farmer’s markets! At our farmer’s markets you’ll find international cuisine, carefully crafted baked goods, fresh produce, one of of a kind handicrafts, and more!

Pro tip: Always check up on local information before you head out to a farmer's market! Some may only run seasonally, or may close during inclement weather!

You can find local farmers’ markets in many LA, Orange County, and San Diego County neighborhoods, but here are a few of our favorites, listed from north to south:

Long Beach:

Long Beach Southeast Farmer’s Market :
Sundays 9 am - 2 pm

Get your fresh empanadas, gourmet olive oil, handcrafted candles and more at the Long Beach Southeast Farmer’s Market ! Come for breakfast (the homemade yogurts are amazing!) or for lunch (tacos anyone?) or just load up on fresh strawberries, avocados, heirloom tomatoes, and other mouthwatering produce.

Parking is in the lot of the Alamitos Bay Marina, on E. Marina Drive, and most visitors don’t have trouble finding a spot.
Local Harvest Farmer’s Market - Marine Stadium
Wednesdays 3pm-8pm

Looking for an evening farmer’s market? The Local Harvest Farmer’s market at Marine Stadium isn’t large, but locals love the quality and variety of the offerings and the friendly atmosphere at this small but mighty farmer’s market! At this evening market you’ll see families picnicking and kids playing, and you’ll find Hawaiian BBQ, wood fired pizza, delicate crepes and delicious mini donuts!

Can't make it to the Wednesday Local Harvest Farmer's Market? Local Harvest hosts two other farmer's markets in Long Beach:

Newport Beach:

Saturday 9am-1pm

Organic fruits, fresh eggs, sushi grade fresh fish, multiple flower vendors, and samples galore make the Corona Del Mar Certified Farmer's Market a hit! You'll find the Corona Del Mar Farmer's Market at PCH and Marguerite Ave, and while it's not big, it certainly packs a punch with it's variety of high quality offerings. You won't find as many ready-to-eat food stands here, but you will find lots of delicious culinary ingredients and home products, from produce and pesto to salsa and soaps!

Sundays 9am-1pm

Just steps from the beach at the Newport Pier, the Newport Beach Farmer's Market is the ultimate local Southern California shopping experience! At this beach front farmer's market you'll find luxurious natural skincare products, fresh fruits, and an eclectic variety of Mexican, Italian, and other foods to enjoy!

P.S. This farmer's market is a must-visit if you're staying at our Court Street Newport Beach vacation rentals ! Our Court Street Condos are right by the pier, which means they're right around the corner from the farmer's market - make sure to check it out!

Irvine :
Saturdays 8am-12pm

If you're looking for something a little bigger than our beach town Farmer's Markets, then maybe the Irvine Farmer's Market is for you. With 50+ vendors, the Irvine Farmer's Market at Mariner's Church delivers an impressive variety of eatables and handcrafted items from the famous Mama Musubi to healthy green juices to bratwurst, cheescake in a cup, and more! Whether you're looking for organic blueberries, gourmet cheeses, fancy mustard, or even tiny decorative terrariums, you won't leave empty handed!

Dana Point:

Second Saturday of the month 9am-1pm
An impressive selection of fruits and veggies is waiting at the Dana Point Farmer's Market , along with a variety of down to earth vendors selling creative products from vegan tamales to goat's milk soap and assorted handicrafts (we've seen jewelry, clothing, and even unique kitchenwares)! You can also usually find a budget friendly cup of coffee (around $1) which makes a stroll through this funky local market even more fun!

San Clemente:

Wednesdays 3pm-7pm

It can be easy to focus on San Clemente's Pier area and overlook the North Beach area, but North Beach has a charm all it's own, and it's all on display at the Market at North Beach ! Browse the artisanal craft market, grab dinner at one of the local food trucks, enjoy live music and more! The Market at North Beach is known for it's fresh bread, even fresher fish, and high quality produce.

P.S. This farmer's market is a great place to visit if you're staying at one of our North Beach vacation rentals, just a couple of blocks away!

Sundays 9am-1pm

A day by the sea in Downtown San Clemente is even better when you take time to stroll through the San Clemente Farmer's Market ! Here you'll find farmer's market staples like organic produce, gourmet mushrooms, homemade pestos, and fresh baked bread, along with some unusual fruit and veggie hybrids.

A few tips when you visit the San Clemente Farmer's Market: The vendors won't sell before 9 AM so don't come early. In fact, on a mellow Sunday in this laid back beach town the farmer's market can sometimes get started a little late, so take your time in getting here. Since this Farmer's Market takes place on Del Mar you can also easily check out the local shops before or after browsing the market stalls, but most shops open a little later, around 10 or 11.

Also, if you can, visit on the first Sunday of the month to enjoy the art faire!

First Sunday of the Month, 9am

Once a month the Village Art Faire joins the San Clemente farmer's market to transform it into an even bigger marketplace of local goods. Browse over 60 vendors on Avenida Del Mar selling hand-crafted works including jewelry, blown glass, home decor, fine art, and more! Visiting on an art faire Sunday is one of the best ways to get the most out of your day at the San Clemente Farmer's Market.

Carlsbad:

Wednesdays 3pm-6pm or 3pm-7pm seasonally

Carlsbad Village is always a great place to stroll and browse, but it's even more fun if you can visit during the State Street Farmer's Market . The market takes place on state street between Carlsbad Village Drive and Grand Ave, and includes a balanced assortment of vendors including produce, specialty foods, prepared foods, and crafters, as well as booths from local non profits.

Oceanside:

Thursdays 9am-1pm

An impressive selection of food vendors make this the perfect place to pick up lunch on a Thursday. At the Oceanside Farmer's Market you'll find crepes, shish kebabs, and everything in between, along with dozens of craft booths, nursery plants, specialty foods, and more!

Thursdays 5pm-9pm

Not available in the morning? After an afternoon break the Oceanside farmer's market resumes, transformed into the Sunset Market ! Oceanside's Sunset Market is a favorite weekly happening of locals and travelers alike, and with live music and a kid zone with activities for children, it's like a street festival every week! Come ready to eat, as the Oceanside Sunset Market regularly features such offerings as lobster and crab rolls, street tacos, beignets, sea urchin rice bowls, vegan horchata, and more!
