Steelhead Coffee
1208 E Wardlow Rd
Long Beach, CA 90807

Known for pretty lattes with a smooth mellow flavor, great seasonal toasts, and pastries of all kinds, Steelhead Coffee is our number one choice for the best coffee and morning or afternoon pastry. If you've ever been turned off by bitter coffee, Steelhead will make it up to you with their incredibly smooth, creamy, and drinkable, while still packed with robust coffee flavor. Customers report great customer service, the most detailed of latte art, and best of all, easy parking with minimal crowds. Try their Avocado Toast, Lavender Latte, Chuck Palmer, and definitely don't miss the delicious vegan doughnuts!

Recreational Coffee
237 Long Beach Blvd
Ste A
Long Beach, CA 90802

If you are looking for an establishment a little more coffee and community focused, Recreational Coffee might be for you! Their slow-brewed coffee is a must-try, and the affogato (organic vanilla ice cream topped with espresso, espresso grounds and sea salt!) is a delectable treat for a sweet afternoon pick-me-up. With lots of other unique flavors and offerings like grapefruit basil coffee and Garden of Eden tea, this is a fun pit stop amidst all the things to do in Southern California!

Recreational Coffee is a convenient stop if you're already downtown, but otherwise you might face a bit of a challenge finding parking. Your best bet is to park in in the structure on 3rd and Promenade. Parking in this structure is free for the first 2 hours, and it's less than a block from the cafe!

Fox Coffee House
437 W Willow St
Long Beach, CA 90806

Fox Coffee House offers smooth lavender milk, vegan food options, and personable staff. Enjoy their rustic and homey environment while nibbling on a vegan chicken pot pie and sipping on hazelnut latte, or enjoy an afternoon snack like the espresso buttercream cupcake paired with a cortado with almond milk. Customers love how humble and simple Fox Coffee is, making it a local favorite to hang out and eat.

Fox Coffee House also frequently hosts open mic nights, poetry readings, and meetings of the Long Beach Ukulele club, so if you're ready to experience a little local flavor, check out their events page and make plans to soak up some talent!

Rose Park Roasters, Coffee Bar
3044 E 4th St
Long Beach, CA 90814

Greeted by the large letters: “Welcome to the Process” upon arriving inside, Rose Park Roasters offers a simple, clean, and hip environment with plenty of seating and a curated list of artisan coffee drinks and pastries. Try any number of their lattes, perfectly sweetened with house-made syrups, or an earthy aromatic matcha latte, and be sure to check out their seasonal offerings for an especially unique experience. Rose Park specializes in roasting, so you might want to buy a bag (or two!) of their creations to brew at home. Parking is free on nearby streets, making Rose Park easy and convenient to visit.

Portfolio Coffeehouse
2300 E 4th St
Long Beach, CA 90814

Portfolio Coffeehouse is our top suggestion for early morning coffee in Long Beach before heading away from your California beach vacation rental for a full day of West Coast adventures. Portfolio opens at 5:30 AM, and while many local coffee shops have small menus, Portfolio offers a magnificent variety of beverages and vegan breakfasts and pastries. From almond milk nitro brew, to grilled breakfast burritos, and Monte Cristo sandwiches, you are bound to find something you like.

We suggest this location for early morning stops because throughout the day, this popular cafe can get quite busy. The morning hours offer better seating for a relaxing visit. Portfolio is located on Long Beach's "Retro Row" so it's also a great place to stop if you're doing a bit of vintage shopping along East 4th Street.

DRNK coffee + tea
4245 Atlantic Ave
Long Beach, CA 90807

Last but not least, DRNK is a fun place to try new drinks and get some midday fuel. With outstanding customer service reviews, plenty of seating, and fun flavors, DRNK is an all-around good place to settle down and enjoy a good coffee. We suggest the Earl Grey Tea Latte, Ginger Orange Latte, or White Hot Chocolate. DRNK is also at the top of our list for family-friendly cafes - it even has space for young families to hang out and books for little ones to read!

DRNK is also a winner when it comes to convenience. The cafe has free private parking, and if you're worried about having space for your party, you can call ahead to reserve a table!
