1. Wine not?
What's better than a long weekend? A long weekend with wine! Check out the Newport Beach Wine Festival at the Balboa Bay Resort! 2. Adventure Day in San Clemente
Looking for a full day of fun that you can adjust to fit your budget? Consider spending the day exploring a town like San Clemente! Explore the scenic architecture and landscaping of Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens , take a long, relaxing walk on the San Clemente Coastal Trail, and dine at the San Clemente Pier.

If you are willing to battle crowds, consider visiting one of our many local theme parks on Memorial Day weekend! For this American Holiday, Knott's Berry Farm is one of our personal favorites. Knott's offers fun rides and shows for all ages, at a more affordable price than Disneyland. Knott’s Berry Farm also offers discounts for US Military personal and discounts for family, as well as special Memorial Sunday Fireworks. Enjoy a day of roller coasters, funnel cake, Camp Snoopy, and more at this local family friendly theme park!

And if the weather is warm, why not plan a visit to Knott's Berry Farm's Soak City ? The water park will open on May 20th with 7 new water slides for 2017 - it's the perfect way to splash into summer!

4. Remembrance
Of course, Orange County ‘s local cities host an abundance of events to observe Memorial Day as well. These local events offer a great way to pause and remember those who gave their lives serving our country. Irvine is hosting two memorial ceremonies, including a candle lighting ceremony on the 28th, and a A Day of Remembrance on the 29th from 10-11:30 in Memorial Park where participants can write letters to post on a memory board. Lots of other local cities will be hosting remembrance events as well. Harbor Lawn Memorial Park in Costa Mesa will host Associate Justice Eileen Moore, and present a wreath ceremony and color guard, and The Mission Viejo Civic Center will host a ceremony honoring a local Marine who died from injuries in Afghanistan. 5. Festivals, Carnivals, and Marathons, Oh My!
Among other Memorial Day events, Memorial Day weekend is a time for fun and relaxation for families all across our nation as we anticipate the beginning of summer. In Orange County, this kick-off to summer ushers in the season of local offerings like festivals and carnivals. Check out the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival , which always has parades, marathons, and lots of strawberries, the Santa Ana Memorial Day Carnival , with rides, games, food, artists, and fun, or sign up for the Laguna Hills Memorial Day Marathon , an energy-packed way to spend the day with activities and even a kid’s run!

6. Fun in the Sun
Of course, in the end, what is better than spending the weekend on the sandy shores of a Southern California beach town and soaking in the salty waves and bright rays?
